Misfits Announce New Guitarist, Tour, and Plans for New Album

Seems a lot has been going on in the Misfits camp lately. According to a recent Facebook post he band lead by founding member bassist Jerry Only has parted way with guitarist Dez Cadena, who played with the band since 2001. However, the band “wish Dez the best with his future endeavors, and the Misfits begin a new chapter.”

Stepping up to fill the shoes left by Cadena is Only's son Jerry Jr. Starting this August he band will be embarking on a 23 date tour where they will be playing their entire debut album Static Age from start to finish. Also, in New York and Hollywood fans will get a two night show where on the second night they will get to hear the Walk Among Us and Earth A.D. albums in their entirety.

The Misfits are not only revisiting old material from their initial run with Glenn Danzig as the front man, but they are working on new material in the studio as well. On the tour they will be playing two of the songs (both written by Jerry Only): Zombie Girl and Vampire Girl.

Nice to see that these horror punk pioneers are getting some fresh young blood in the band to do some new material and to breath new life into the old stuff as well. I've never been that big a fan of Jerry Only's singing, but he isn't that bad. Too bad a classic Misfits reunion with Danzig is probably still out of the question.
